Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) has become an important approach in many medical facilities. Nurses and caregivers “must use their personal experiences and clinical expertise in order to provide competent support to their patients” (Eizenberg, 2011, p. 36). Caregivers can obtain the best evidences from their personal skills and relevant research findings. Such evidences will ensure every nursing practice is effective. Nurses must utilize their evidence-based skills and concepts whenever supporting the needs of their patients (Makic, VonRueden, Rauen, & Chadwick, 2011). They should also use Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs) to address the preferences of different patients and parents. Patients tend to have the best knowledge about their medical histories. Caregivers can use such information in order to provide the best support to their patients. The approach will result in better health outcomes (Eizenberg, 2011).
Nursing environments can embrace the capabilities of Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs) in order to provide the best medical services. EBP has become a critical aspect of nursing. Nurses can use the concept to identify the health issues and challenges affecting their patients. The “practice also makes nursing a useful approach that can address most of the challenges affecting different patients” (Makic et al., 2011, p. 46). EBP also borrows new ideas from different research findings. The process also improves the quality of nursing support. Every health institution must employ nurses who understand the benefits of EBP. Such nurses must gather new medical ideas and practices. The approach will create teams that can achieve the best medical results. Health managers must embrace the best evidence-based ideas (Makic et al., 2011). Managers should encourage the use of different educational materials and seminars. The practice will equip Nurse Practitioners (NPs) with better skills and competencies. Evidence-Based Practice will ensure every work environment provides the best support to its patients.
Nursing is a useful practice because it supports the health needs of different patients and populations. PICOT questions are used by nurses and researchers whenever undertaking different studies. Researchers can use the PICOT formula to get the best study findings. I have developed the question below using the PICOT formula.
PICOT Question
In children below the age of five, how does the use of polio vaccine compared to not receiving the immunization influence their risk of getting poliomyelitis when there is an outbreak?
My PICOT question “identifies a targeted population, issue of interest, comparison intervention, possible outcome, and time” (Eizenberg, 2011, p. 39). The identified category of internal data includes acquisition of polio. The identified external data is the rate of disease explosion in the society.
The student has presented the best ideas regarding the use of Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs). I agree with the student because EBPs can maximize the quality of healthcare. The author also makes it easier for caregivers to provide effective and efficient care to their patients. The student’s answer is acceptable because EBP will ensure every patient gets the best medical support.
The student discusses how different international organizations have embraced the use of evidence-based nursing practices. I agree with the student because many work environments can use seminars and educational materials to equip their nurses with new skills. Healthcare professionals must also promote the use of EBP in order to achieve the best health outcomes (Eizenberg, 2011). Such practices will ensure many organizations provide quality nursing care.
