PepsiCo INC. is the top largest beverage company in the world. The Beverage and Food Corporation, whose center of operations is in Purchase, New York. PepsiCo Inc. is a multinational food and beverage corporation of global significance. It was created by Donald Kendall and Herman Lay, the CEOs of Pepsi-Cola and Frito-Lay, respectively, to deliver “perfectly-salty snacks served alongside the best cola on earth”. In the present day, the company has seven divisions, including Frito-Lay North America; PepsiCo Beverages North America; Quaker Foods North America; Europe; Latin America; Asia Pacific, Australia/New Zealand and Greater China; and Africa, Middle East and South Asia. The most well-known brands of PepsiCo company are Pepsi, Mirinda, 7up, Lay’s, Doritos, Tostitos, Cheetos, Munchies, Mountain Dew, Lipton, Tropicana, and Aquafina.

PepsiCo Inc. aims to produce and deliver nourishing and delicious products to its consumers, be a respectable partner driven by innovations, conserve natural resources, and provide opportunities for its employees’ professional and personal development. The company’s mission is to “create more smiles with every sip and every bite”. At the same time, it is planning to be a leader in the global market of food and beverages. All in all, the company’s ambitions are justified by its total revenues, global distribution, brand awareness, and customer loyalty.

The main competitor of PepsiCo Inc. is The Coca-Cola Company which focuses on the manufacturing and distribution of non-alcoholic beverages all over the world. At the same time, PepsiCo company has a major competitive advantage reflected in its diversified portfolio. In other words, in contrast with Coca-Cola, PepsiCo sells food as well. As a result, the resources and capacities allow this company to operate in more than 200 states across the globe with net revenues of $70 billion and $79.5 billion generated in 2020 and 2021, respectively. The company Pepsi was first founded in the year 1898 in North Carolina. Caleb Davis Bradham is an American pharmacist and celebrated as the inventor of the soft drink Pepsi-Cola. Brad owned his own drugstore, where he had a soda fountain and would create drinks to serve his customers. In no time at all, his, most popular drink was “Brad’s Drink”. Until the year 1898, Brad renamed Brad’s Drink to Pepsi-Cola. The name Pepsi-Cola was created the reason Brad believed his drink aided digestion, how the enzyme, pepsin, does. As a result, that’s how Pepsi-Cola got its name.

PepsiCo has committed to benefiting the community and doing good for the world earth. The company wants its product to be included in great moments.

Similar to other modern corporations, PepsiCo draws significant attention to its corporate social responsibility. In particular, the company’s annual report offers specific information on what the organization does for society, and key objectives and interventions are highlighted in the pep+ strategy (PepsiCo, “Annual Report 2021” 3). The given company makes significant efforts to bring positive changes to the spheres of agriculture, climate, water supply, human health, and others. The annual report demonstrates that the organization plans to “spread regenerative agriculture across 7 million acres by 2030,” “achieve net-zero emissions by 2040,” “improve the livelihoods of more than 250,00 people,” and others (PepsiCo, “Annual Report 2021” 3). The company also has many other objectives, but these are the leading examples to reveal the organization’s active involvement in promoting social responsibility.

Undoubtedly, the company’s performance and behaviors support its mission statement. Even though the statement is broad, it is possible to find a relationship between it and social responsibility activities. If all the goals above are achieved, one can expect that people will live in a better world where they will smile more frequently. Consequently, there is some connection between Pepsi’s mission statement and pep+ strategy components.

Since the corporation draws much attention to its corporate social responsibility, it is not surprising that it is challenging to find any past or current ethical issues affecting the company. This economic sector includes businesses that distribute beverage and convenient food products across numerous countries throughout the world. That is why it is not surprising that PepsiCo is forced to compete with numerous businesses. In particular, the list of rivals includes The Kraft Heinz Company, Nestle, Red Bull, Monster Beverage Corporation, and many others (PepsiCo, “Annual Report 2021” 7). This information demonstrates that the selected business deals with robust competition.

It is also reasonable to focus on the industry to determine what environmental forces affect the firm. Firstly, the company understands that its business successes depend on seasonal variations because some seasons contribute to higher demand. Thus, better outcomes are typically achieved in the third quarter (PepsiCo, “Annual Report 2021” 6). Secondly, the COVID-19 pandemic significantly reduced demand throughout the world, which adversely affected the company’s financial results (PepsiCo, “Annual Report 2021” 7). Thirdly, the organization can even suffer according to its ‘racial’ identity. In particular, Maamoun admits that populations of some countries do not welcome American brands leading to challenges for the firm (41). Finally, another external factor refers to government interventions because these establishments can impose different taxes and labeling requirements (Maamoun 41). This information demonstrates that numerous factors affect the industry and Pepsi’s performance.

Furthermore, it is worth admitting that The Coca-Cola Company is the key competitor of Pepsi. The rationale behind this statement is that Pepsi and Coca-Cola “represented approximately 22% and 19%, respectively, of the US liquid refreshment beverage category” (PepsiCo, “Annual Report 2021” 7). This quotation also reveals that the company is the top player in the marketplace. The selected corporation also occupies leading positions in the global market, which helps it accumulate significant profits.

According to the information above, it is not surprising that many individuals want to be a part of this corporation. That is why it is reasonable to comment on the recruitment process at PepsiCo. In general, the entire hiring process consists of three steps. Firstly, an individual should file an application with all the required details. The COVID-19 pandemic was a significant shock for the entire world, but the company used the situation to support and retain its employees. This approach demonstrates that the company respects and values its employees.


In conclusion, one should comment on the demographics of PepsiCo employees. In 2021, females occupied 43% of global managerial positions in the corporation (Schellekens par. 4). African Americans and Hispanic individuals also represented a significant portion of PepsiCo managers. The company management understands that this state of affairs is far from ideal. That is why PepsiCo’s 2025 objective is to ensure that 50% of management roles are occupied by women, while 10% of positions are represented by African Americans and Hispanics (Schellekens par. 3). This data demonstrates that the corporation draws significant attention to workforce diversity.
