System Design and Analysis in Healthcare

People face numerous challenges when designing information systems in health care. This is because they do not know the steps to follow when designing a health care system. People should consider various things when designing systems like the shortcomings of the other systems and the requirements.

System design and analysis are important in the development of health care systems. Most organizations have found it hard to design their systems because they are not aware of the things they should consider like weaknesses of the other systems and user requirements. Considering the factors above helps eliminate various issues associated with system analysis, design and implementation like privacy, updating records, etc.

Privacy is a major issue in most of the health care organizations. Organizations find it hard to share medical records because of security issues. The HIPPA laws govern sharing of medical records, transfer of medical records, etc. The laws ensure organizations follow the right standards when sharing medical records over the internet. Organizations find it hard to store medical records because they do not plan how to store records when developing the system. In addition, they are not able to update records filled in two different facilities at the same time. Hence, they should encourage the standardization of medical records to update records easily.

Health care information systems

Health care information systems are designed to manage medical information, administrative matters, financial information and legal information of a health care facility (Jeffrey & Lonnie, 2005). They also help in the processing of services. The subsystems include laboratory information system, radiology information system, picture archiving and communication system. Other systems are supply and logistic systems.

Health care information systems are kinds of systems that are developed to manage medical information, financial, legal and administrative information. The information systems have various benefits. First, they allow easy access to patient information and classification of patients using the information. Second, they ensure easy administration of the facility including patient services, finances, etc.
